You know that stereotype of Canadians on how they're all nice, great manners, drink maple syrup, and say sorry all the time? You can throw all that out the window if you're going to watch the B-rated comedy-horror Another Wolfcop. If you couldn't tell by the title alone, this is a sequel to the movie 2014 cult horror-comedy Wolfcop. Both films are written and directed by Lowell Dean, and he's very aware of who his target audience is. Another Wolfcop is lewd, crude, and all around smut, but that's what makes it a fun film if you're into self away bad horror movies. This should be a warning for anyone who isn't into fart, sexual, beer, and drug jokes since this will not be your kind of movie.

The film takes place a few months after the events of the first. It opens with a car chase heading down the middle of Woodhaven, Canada, where some men have stolen a truck and are dressed as both robbers and Santa Claus. They are being chased by Lou Garou (Fafard) in his lycan form, Wolfcop. Turns out they are smuggling something for the main villains of the movies, a group of shape-shifting lizard people. Wolfcop is able to catch up with the baddies and, to no surprise, tears them up in a bloody, over-the-top fashion. The next day we also find out that a millionaire playboy, Sydney Swallows (Bisson), is opening back up an old brewery in town to bring in new jobs, for their beer called Chicken Milk. Turns out there's some connection between the brewery, an old friend of Lou's to re-emerging, and the shape-shifters that Lou and his gang have to get to the bottom of.

The movie has some great qualities to it, but there are some really poor ones that can often overshadow it. Where the first one felt like it had a stable plot and was able to balance out the comedy with the visceral scenes, its sequel seems to throw that balance out of whack. Another Wolfcop tries to do too much with its plot this time around. It is certainly grosser and sillier than Wolfcop was, as every scene is gore-filled with some vulgarity. There's still plenty of laughs this time around, it just feels like there's a joke a minute in case the last one didn't really stick (think today's modern cartoons).

You can tell that this series is the creator's pride and joy, as the movie is full of imagination and care. The practical effects are done well, though often a little corny. Wolfcop, being the center of the film, is done well and is easy on the eyes, while everything else did not get the same treatment. There are chest buster like creatures, which are these lizard creatures, that look like rejected Muppets. The latter isn't on screen as much, but when shots linger on them you can't help but chuckle on how bad they can look.

The editing is the lowest point of the movie, since the acting can be overlooked from good comedic timing. The scenes are shot well, but they just look ugly and often clunky like they were strung together by someone who was new to working with Adobe software. Even some of the jokes can fall flat from a half second scene randomly spliced in that doesn't seem to fit, or if they're trying to make the pacing fast by throwing multiple shots in a quick succession.
So while it isn't as good as the first, it still isn't a bad movie. This is one of those you can sit with your significant other on the couch with and just laugh at the absurdity of the movie. It just recently came out on DVD/Bluray and other video on demand sites (like the PlayStation Store). If you're looking for a laugh then I'd recommend checking this one out, but if you're just not into self-aware B-movies then you might just want to give this one a hard pass. If you end up liking Wolfcop and Another Wolfcop then you'll be thrilled to know that there will be a third one since the movie ends with some foreshadowing and some loose ends.
